Understanding Grammar
If I were to say to you the two words, Nelson Mandela, you may think of the First Black President of South Africa, but I really mean that Nelson Mandela was a political prisoner for 27 years. We both have different images of Nelson Mandela in our minds.
The use of proper grammar allows us to communicate so that we both understand the same thing.
Grammar is composed of rules that tell us how words can be put together to form sentences. This includes punctuation, words that indicate the past, present or future, the order that words are used, words that specify a particular word, and words that connect two things.
Being Embarrassed
You may be telling a story, applying for a job, or writing on the Internet, and so good Grammar is important for communication. It makes you clearer, easier to understand, and more enjoyable to read.
Good grammar is the difference between knowing what you are saying, or letting people see that you don’t.
Good grammar makes things clear, it can also increase your credibility. People will believe what you say.
